Saidi Abu Bakar's Story


Saidi is from Kondoa Babati in Arusha. He is 14 years old. Saidi is currently living in Arusha on the streets at the bus stand. He is an excellent photographer who photographs the streets in an in your face manner. Saidi is unafraid to photograph anyone, anywhere at anytime. Sometimes he sells urembo (beauty)ómeaning earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. In his interview he mentioned that he didn't like staying at centers because the children were respected and treated properly in homes for street youth. Saidi would like to be the captain of a ship or to be the President of Tanzania. He wants to help poor people and children who live under rough conditions. And if he were to pursue his dream of being a captain of a ship, he wants to transport passengers safely.
